What Are the Different Types of Cannabinoids?

Research shows that over 100 cannabinoids have been found within the cannabis plant. Each one of these cannabinoids provides varying medical and recreational benefits.

You must know the different types of cannabinoids and their purpose. This is to ensure you experience the best effects and no negatives from the plant.

Take a look at our easy guide on the different types of cannabinoids and how they affect you.

Introduction to Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids are compounds that are found in the cannabis plant. They have been studied for their effects on the human body. It is found in the cannabis plant.

These compounds affect the parts of the brain that regulate emotions, memory, pain, and other senses.

Classification of Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids can be broken down into several different types, but it is classified into two groups:

Phytocannabinoids

It is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. These substances are responsible for the plant’s effects on the human body and mind.

Endocannabinoids

The human body produces its own cannabinoids called endocannabinoids. Endocannabinoids regulate various physiological functions through cannabinoid receptors found within the body.

The Different Types of Cannabinoids

Each compound varies in its properties and effects. Some have therapeutic or medicinal benefits, while others for psychedelic effects. Here are the most commonly known cannabinoids:

THC (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol)

It is a well-known psychoactive component in marijuana. This is what gives the “high” feeling, which includes euphoria, relaxation, and a heightened sense of appetite.

CBD (Cannabidiol)

This is non-intoxicating or non-psychoactive, meaning it does not produce a “high” or altered mental state associated with cannabis. CBD products have become increasingly popular for their analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-anxiety properties.

CBG (Cannabigerol)

It is also non-psychoactive. It is believed helping to regulate pain, inflammation, gastrointestinal function, and neuroprotection. It is also useful in helping reduce anxiety, depression, stress, and headache.

CBN (Cannabinol)

It is found with sedative effects, are often associated with sleep aid effects. CBN is formed from the oxidation and decomposition of THC, although its effects are very different.

CBC (Cannabichromene)

It is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid strain. CBC isolate for sale is derived from these Cannabinoids and can be used in many ways, such as CBD oils, edibles, and topical applications like creams and salves.

The benefits of CBC are found to help, such as pain relief, anti-inflammation, improved mood, and the prevention of certain kinds of cancers.

CBDV (Cannabidivarin)

It is like CBD but has different therapeutic benefits due to its distinct chemical properties. It’s known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-epileptic, anti-anxiety, and anti-cancer properties.

CBDV is also believed to work synergistically with THC, the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis.

THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin)

It is like THC, but doesn’t carry the same risks. The energizing effect helps appetite suppressants and enhances focus and concentration.

It’s useful to reduce anxiety, balance mood, management of seizures, inflammation, and type 2 diabetes.
